Your Presentation Checklist...
If you've stumbled across
our website with only a few hours left before you need to take the
stage, this is the page for you!
Use the following as a quick checklist to ensure
you've covered the basics and, if needs be,
-
Aim of presentation
- What are you looking to achieve from the
presentation?
- Make sure your audience is also made aware!
-
Preparation
- Make sure you know the presentation back to
front!
- Learn as much as you can about your audience -
why are they taking time out of their busy day to listen to you?
- How long have you been allocated? If it's
shorter than expected, what can you edit out?
-
The PowerPoint Presentation
- If you only have a few hours left:
Remind yourself with the storyboard and, if possible, get rid of any
unnecessary animations & builds.
- If you have more time: Get your
PowerPoint checked over by a professional presentation business (check
out the links page for suitable companies). A new set of eyes
approach could refresh your presentation & aid your effectiveness in
front of the audience.
-
The venue
- Make sure you know where it is!
- Find out as much about it as possible - will
you be provided with a mic or will you have to throw your voice?
- If its an small audience, do you
even need a projector or will your laptop suffice?
-
Supporting materials
- What exactly would your audience appreciate?
- Consider providing PowerPoint handouts with
free sections for note taking
- How many copies do you need?
-
Disaster recovery
- Do you have back up of your presentation (CD,
USB memory key)?
-
